On Monday, the 19th of February, Middlesex Dubai hosted the #Tabtakir2024 event at block 17 in our new Study District. Our team, Aqualuminati, was one of the five selected teams to participate in the event, alongside students from other years. It was a wonderful occasion, and I am incredibly proud of my team members for their hard work on our project.

The event commenced around 10 AM, but my team and I had been at the university since 7 AM. We chose to arrive early to finalize some aspects of our project and ensure it was ready to be presented.

Throughout the event our project was visited by many students from different faculties as well as staff members and a few visitors. We had the opportunity to explain our the workings of our project as well as talk about future visions we had for Aqualuminati. We were also able to have discussions with viewers and some even shared some ideas on how we could further enhance our project. One of the suggestions we that we make use of a blue LED instead of Green to signal "okay" for aquatic conditions. This was so that users who are colourblind would be able to differentiate between red and blue as they similarly.

Professor Cedwyn Fernandes, the pro-vice chancellor of our university, honoured us with a visit to our project display. He was quite impressed with our project, especially for it being put together by a group of first year students! He also touched on the importance of our automated fish food feeder which can be used to prevent the overfeeding of fish as it is a common cause of fish mortality.

We also had the chance to visit other project displays, both by students from our module as well as second year students who are studying a degree in engineering. Out of the many fascinating creations the musical staircase stood out to me the most. I love the idea and hope to see it evolve into a fully functional musical staircase!

In conclusion, I thoroughly enjoyed the event and I am grateful that our university offers such fantastic opportunities for students to showcase their talent and creativity while providing a platform to share it with others!
