This week we covered the following topics; #SFIA and #MediaLiteracy.
SFIA
This stand for "The Skills for the Information Age". It is a sort of mind map that helps students navigate through their paths of interest when it comes to the field of Technology. It is also used by employers to determine salaries as well as competency levels between employees.
I have chosen the following interests from the many options available as I feel most attracted to these options career-wise;
Business Change Management
Business Strategy and Planning
Information Strategy
Quality and Conformance
Human Factors
I know that this is quite a broad list opposed to going into further depth for each topic. I don't think that I'm ready to go into further depth just as yet. I'd like to learn a bit more about each of these paths that I have chosen before I can begin to look into them further.

Media Literacy
During the media literacy part of our lecture we covered the following;
Images
Media ownership
Pixels
Activity #2
For this activity we were introduced to photo editing. I used Photopea to edit an image of our lecturers dog, Suji. 🐶
I had fun with this activity! My favourite part of this edit was using the dry brush filter on this digital image to make it look like a painting! #workOfArt

Activity #3
For this activity I learnt how to edit eye colour using Photopea. I learnt this from the following YouTube tutorials;
I decided to do this activity on a photo of my cat, Lada. 🐱
Here are before and after images:

Activity #4
Image Discoveries
What are the available image file formats
I am familiar with the following image types; jpeg, png, tiff, gif, svg
What are the artistic filters that you have applied?
I applied the dry brush artistic filter to the image of Suji using Photopea.
Brush Size: 3
Brush Detail: 5
Texture: 2
What is meant by colour balance?
Colour balance focuses on changing the intensity of the reds, greens and blues of an image. Each of the three colours can be adjusted to give an image a certain look and feel.
What are Hue and Saturation?
Hue focuses on adjusting the warmth and coolness of an image.
Saturation focuses adjusting the overall intensity of every pixel of an image.
Who owns this file after the considerable changes you have made to the images?
The ownership of a file will always belong to the creator of the file unless the owner sells the file or legally hands over ownership to someone else.
What is meant by ownership, pixels, binary representation?
Ownership: the legalities around owning digital files. Digital files will always belong to its creator unless sold or legally given to someone else.
Pixels: pixels are tiny squares that every graphic is constructed of. They are stored in binary by the computer. Each pixel holds a red, green and blue value.
Binary: a basic number system represented by 0s and 1s. Everything done on a computer is converted into binary in order for the computer to understand what needs to be done. Everything stored on computers are stored in binary.
Thanks for reading this week's blog! Let me know what you think about my editing skills in the comments. ☺️
